DxOMark, a trusted name in image quality assessment operated by DxO Labs, has named the iPhone 8 Plus as the best camera smartphone available today. Historically, the top positions were held by the HTC U11 and Google Pixel, but the arrival of Apple's iPhone 8 series has shifted the leaderboard.

The iPhone 8 secured a strong DxOMark score of 92, surpassing the previous record of 90. However, the larger iPhone 8 Plus took the crown with an even higher rating of 94. At this time, DxOMark has not yet evaluated Samsung's flagship Note 8, so it remains to be seen how it will stack up against these competitors. The upcoming Google Pixel 2 is also expected to present a serious challenge.

For shoppers, these ratings offer a clear indicator of real-world photographic performance, helping to inform purchasing decisions.
