JBL E45BT and JBL E55BT Wireless Headphones Review

We tested two JBL wireless headphone models, the E45BT and E55BT, to see if they justify their place in Nepal's premium yet affordable audio market. After several weeks of daily use, here are our detailed impressions.

The E45BT is an on-ear model, while the E55BT uses an over-ear design, making it slightly larger and heavier. The E55BT includes 50mm dynamic drivers and a bigger battery, reflecting its higher price tag. Both models feature soft leather padding on the earcups and an adjustable fabric-covered headband that sits comfortably. The earcups can rotate 90 degrees, allowing the headphones to rest flat around the neck, and both are foldable for portability. However, a carrying case is not included and must be purchased separately.

Control layout places all buttons on the right earcup, producing a satisfying click sound. These include power, volume, track navigation, and Bluetooth buttons. The volume keys also serve as track skip controls when pressed long, and the play/pause button answers incoming calls. Call quality during testing was clear and reliable.

Bluetooth connectivity performed well across rooms without dropouts. Audio performance is strong for both models, delivering deep bass and clear, crisp vocals across music genres. Mid and low frequencies are handled competently, although distortion occurs at maximum volume, which is rarely used in practice.

Battery life is a standout feature. The E55BT played music for a full week of three-hour daily sessions before needing its first charge, and after just two hours of charging, it delivered 19 to 20 hours of playback. The E45BT offers slightly shorter endurance at around 15 to 16 hours. Neither model includes a charging adapter; only a charging cable is provided, along with a 3.5mm aux cable for wired use when needed.

For those seeking premium wireless headphones within a NPR 15,000 budget, both models are solid choices. The E55BT edges ahead with its over-ear comfort, reduced audio leakage, and longer battery life, making it our recommended option for most users.
