Nokia 6 Achieves Instant Sell-Out in China During First Sale

HMD Global’s revival of the Nokia brand in the smartphone space has generated significant excitement, as evidenced by the Nokia 6’s extraordinary debut in China. The device, launched just days ago, sold out completely within a minute of going on sale, underscoring the enduring popularity of the Nokia name. Although the exact number of units sold has not been disclosed, the first flash sale reportedly drew over a million registrants, far surpassing initial forecasts. A second sales event is planned, though its date has yet to be announced.

The Nokia 6 offers a respectable set of specifications for its price point. It sports a 5.5-inch full HD IPS LCD display with a sharp 403 ppi density and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for durability. Under the hood, it runs Android Nougat (version 7.0) and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset, an octa-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz paired with an Adreno 505 GPU. Memory-wise, the phone includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD card up to 256GB. Camera capabilities are handled by a 16MP primary lens and an 8MP secondary shooter, both with f/2.0 apertures. A non-removable 3,000 mAh battery provides endurance, supported by fast charging technology. Additional features include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gyro, proximity and compass sensors.

Priced at 1,699 Yuan, equivalent to roughly $247, the Nokia 6 is currently exclusive to China. However, the strong initial reception suggests that broader international availability may follow soon. Moreover, HMD Global is preparing to unveil another Nokia device at the upcoming Mobile World Congress, promising expanded global access in the near future.
