Samsung Galaxy M31 to Feature a 64MP Camera and Massive 6000mAh Battery

Samsung appears ready to strengthen its position in the mid to lower-end smartphone market with the upcoming Galaxy M31. Building on the success of last year's M30 and M30s, this new model promises notable improvements, especially in the camera and battery departments.

Recent teasers from Indian tech influencers have highlighted the Galaxy M31's key features. YouTuber Gaurav Chaudhary, known as Technical Guruji, shared a teaser poster indicating a major camera upgrade, though he did not reveal the exact sensor used. Another tech personality, Geekyranjit, provided clearer details, confirming that the device will indeed feature a 64MP primary camera sensor. This is a leap forward from the 48MP setup speculated earlier and marks a strong upgrade over the M30s.

Further confirmation comes from C4ETech, who stated that the Galaxy M31 will pack a substantial 6000mAh battery. This represents a clear advantage over competitors and improves upon the 5000mAh battery found in the Galaxy M30, although the M30s already offered a 6000mAh option.

The camera arrangement is expected to include a quad-camera setup in an L-shaped module. Alongside the 64MP main camera, likely Samsung's Isocell GW1 sensor, the phone should carry an ultra-wide-angle lens, a depth sensor, and a macro lens—a welcome addition for users interested in detailed close-up photography.

In terms of performance, the Galaxy M31 will be powered by Samsung's Exynos 9611 chipset. Contrary to earlier expectations of a Snapdragon 665, the Geekbench database reveals that it will use the same Exynos 9611 found in the Galaxy M30s. The processor includes four Cortex-A73 cores running at 2.3GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.7GHz, with graphics handled by a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. The device is set to come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, running Android 10 with Samsung's One UI 2.0.

Certification filings have also provided additional details. The model, identified as SM-M315F/DS, confirms dual SIM support and reveals that the phone will feature dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) along with Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.

Launch expectations place the Galaxy M31 very close to release. With the recent price drop of the Galaxy M30s, an unveiling possibly next month seems plausible. Industry watchers anticipate that Samsung may introduce the Galaxy M31 alongside the Galaxy M11 following the unveiling of the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Z Flip. To stay competitive in the crowded mid-range market, the device will likely debut with an aggressively priced offering.
