Sony Unveils Mid-Range Xperia L1 Smartphone

Sony has announced the Xperia L1, a mid-range smartphone and the follow-up to the original Xperia L from 2013. The device sports a 5.5-inch display with 720p resolution, which may disappoint some users expecting a higher pixel density. However, it borrows the premium-looking design language from recent Xperia models like the XA and XA Ultra, featuring slim side bezels for an edge-to-edge appearance, though the top and bottom bezels remain noticeable.

Under the hood, the Xperia L1 is powered by a Mediatek MT6737T chipset, a quad-core processor clocked at 1.45GHz with Mali-T720 MP2 graphics, paired with 2GB of RAM. Storage options include 16GB of internal memory with microSD expansion support up to 256GB. The phone runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and supports dual SIMs, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and USB Type-C for data and charging. A non-removable 2620mAh battery provides power.

Camera-wise, the Xperia L1 packs a 13MP rear shooter with an f/2.2 aperture, capable of recording 1080p video at 30 frames per second, and a 5MP front camera also featuring an f/2.2 lens.

While the Xperia L1's specifications suggest modest performance, its attractive pricing — if Sony opts for a competitive launch — could make it an appealing choice for budget-focused buyers seeking a stylish device with solid basics.
