Xiaomi Redmi 2 Arrives in Nepal Priced at NPR 14,900

Xiaomi has expanded its presence in Nepal with the launch of the Redmi 2, now available for NPR 14,900 through Kaymu. This latest addition joins the recently introduced Mi4, bringing a capable yet affordable smartphone to local consumers.

The Redmi 2 features a 4.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels, delivering a sharp 312 ppi density. Protection is handled by AGC Dragontrail Glass, which helps guard against scratches and minor impacts. Under the hood, a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor paired with an Adreno 306 GPU manages everyday tasks efficiently.

Memory configurations include 1GB of DDR3 RAM and 8GB of internal storage, with support for microSD cards up to 32GB. The device supports dual SIMs with 4G LTE, along with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and USB OTG compatibility. A 2200mAh Samsung lithium polymer battery provides power, featuring quick charge technology that can bring the phone to 50 percent in just 30 minutes.

Photography capabilities include an 8MP primary camera with LED flash, BSI sensor, f/2.2 aperture, Omnivision sensor, and 1080p video recording. A 2MP front camera supports 720p video capture. The phone runs MIUI version 6.0 based on Android 4.4 KitKat.

Currently, only the white color variant is available in Nepal. There is no confirmation yet on whether the 2GB RAM with 16GB storage variant will be introduced locally. Additionally, Vatsal Implex has announced plans to launch the Redmi Note 3 in the coming months.
