Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon Variant Arrives in Nepal

Vatsal Impex Pvt. Ltd., the official Xiaomi distributor in Nepal, will release a new processor variant of the Redmi Note 4 on May 3. Unlike the original model that used a MediaTek Helio X20 Decacore chip, this version features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625.

The Snapdragon upgrade brings several advantages. The 14nm process technology in the Snapdragon 625 offers better power efficiency than the MediaTek X20’s 20nm design, addressing heat and battery drain issues reported with the earlier variant. The phone also weighs 10 grams less, coming in at 165 grams compared to the MediaTek version’s 175 grams.

Despite the processor change, other specifications remain unchanged. The device sports a 5.5-inch full HD IPS LCD screen with a 401 ppi density, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage expandable via the second SIM slot, a 13MP main camera with PDAF support, a 5MP front camera, and a substantial non-removable 4100mAh battery. It runs Android Marshmallow with Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 on top and includes dual SIM support, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, IR blaster, and a fingerprint sensor.

The existing MediaTek-powered Redmi Note 4 currently sells for NPR 26,999 for the 3GB/32GB model and NPR 29,999 for the 3GB/64GB variant. While the Snapdragon edition’s pricing has not yet been confirmed, expectations are that it will fall within a similar range.
